SSU prevents possible hand-over of secret data on missile arsenals to Russian special services

The SSU Counterintelligence prevented possible hand-over of military secrets to Russian special services. The SSU exposed a commander of a Ukrainian military unit in the Western region who covertly collected secret data on missile weapons.

The search of the suspect’s home led to seizure of a laptop and a USB drive that he used to illegally store state secrets.

The data on his laptop included secret information on over a dozen missile and ammunition storage bases of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deployment schemes and organizational structures of armament arsenals, as well as equipment and staffing of these units.

The SSU is verifying his involvement in intelligence and subversive activities of Russian special services against the state security of our country.

The investigation of disclosure of military secrets is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the illegal activity.

The detainee will be notified of suspicion, and the court is to decide on the measure of restraint.

The SSU carried out the operation under the supervision of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
