SSU prevents illegal export of engines for military transport aircraft to Iran
The SSU prevented an attempt to unlawfully export aircraft components subject to state export control from Ukraine.
As a result of operational and investigative activities in Dnipro, the SSU exposed two entrepreneurs who tried to illegally transport two D-36 turbojet aircraft engines to Iran for sale.
According to the investigation, the dealers planned to sell Ukrainian-made engines to foreign buyers for USD 400,000.
The ‘customers’ planned to use the high-tech equipment on AN-74 military transport aircraft.
To disguise the criminal activity, the offenders wanted to export the aircraft engines from Ukraine presenting them as components for gas pipelines and entered falsified information in the shipping declarations.
However, the SSU exposed and blocked the attempt timely.
As the investigation established, the organizers are two owners of a Dnipro company specializing in cargo transportation to the Middle East and Africa.
According to intelligence, the engines they tried to illegally export abroad had previously been stolen during liquidation of a state-owned enterprise.
The dealers planned to make minor repairs to these units and counterfeit documents for their further sale.
The criminals stored the engines in a hangar on the territory of the enterprise. There, the law enforcement found them during the searches.
The items have been seized for examination. After that, a decision will be made to pass them for the needs of Ukraine’s defence industry.
A criminal proceeding was initiated under Article 333.1 of the CCU (violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control). The investigation is ongoing.
The SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region exposed the offence under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
