SBU prevents large-scale misappropriation of state-owned property

Due to investigation of the SBU Cybersecurity Department, Pechersk District Court of Kyiv city has seized 45 state-owned facilities worth UAH 5 b.
(USD 185.2 m.) that were illegally privatized last year.

The SBU, the State Bureau of Investigations and the Prosecutor General's Office conducted searches in the premises of PJSC "Ukrproftur", PJSC "Ukrprofozdorovnytsia" and the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine.

During the searches, law enforcement seized a large number of documents necessary for the pre-trial investigation.

Allegedly, the offenders organized misappropriation of the state property.
They substantially undervalued the facility. Thus, the buyer, without the approval of the State Property Fund, paid minimum amount for the purchase of the facility.

Due to this, the officials received approximately 50% of the facility as-is value. The offenders sold property to relatives or people with whom they previously agreed.

Law enforcement documented misappropriation of sanatorium "Zhovten’" in Koncha-Zaspa, sanatoriums in Odesa city and Odesa region, over 15 sanatoriums in Ochakiv city, the house in Morshyn city, etc.

Currently, the SBU Cyber Department jointly with the Prosecutor General’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigations are conducting a pre-trial investigation for:

  • abuse of authority or office;
  • misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation;
  • neglect of official duty.

The investigation is ongoing.
