SBU prevents illegal sale of weapons to criminals
In Vinnytsia region, the SBU shut down an organized group engaged in illegal sale of firearms and ammunition. Allegedly, the group members were selling the weapons to regional criminals.
The group consisted of several local residents. The perpetrators set up an underground workshop to modify non-lethal weapons to make them deadly. They searched for clients using personal contacts in criminal circles.
The activity of the group was regular. The SBU officers documented the illegal sale of four rifles with ammunition by the suspects.
Currently, the organizer of the group was served a notice of suspicion of unlawful handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. The type of detention is to be chosen.
The investigation is ongoing to prosecute other persons involved in the illegal activities.
The operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Vinnytsia region together with the National Police investigators and under the supervision of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
