SSU prevents illegal takeover of state salt mine in Prykarpattia

The SSU blocked an attempt to unlawfully take over the property of a state-owned enterprise in Ivano-Frankivsk region. The perpetrators tried to take over a salt quarry covering almost 100 hectares, as well as state-owned former factory and workshop.

Due to a prompt response of the law enforcement, budget losses of over UAH 30 mln (USD 1.07 mln) were prevented.

The illegal activity was organized by a commercial entity owning 49% share in the state enterprise. To gain full control over the facility and to seize its property, the co-owners illegally redistributed shares of the authorized capital in their favor.

To do this, they secretly held a board meeting without the representatives of the founder, the state-owned enterprise, and decided to transfer 54% of the shares in the authorized capital to the private entity.

The organizers of the scheme involved an accomplice, the state registrar. Based on the illegal decision, he entered the changes into the state register.

In the course of investigation, the SSU initiated cancellation of the illegal registration action. The size of the share of the state-owned enterprise has been restored.

The head of the commercial entity and the state registrar have been notified of suspicion of offences under Article 365-2.1 (abuse of office by persons providing public services), Article 362.3 (unauthorized actions with information processed in computers, automated systems, computer networks or stored on such media, committed by a person entitled to access it) of the CCU.

The court is to decide on the measure of restraint.

The investigation is underway.

The SSU Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region carried out the operation in coordination with the SSU Main Directorate for Critical Infrastructure Protection together with the National Police under the supervision of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
