SSU detains lawyer who collected information for russia on HIMARS and minefields near Kyiv (video)
In Kyiv oblast, the SSU exposed another russian agent.
The traitor is a local lawyer who previously worked at the prosecutor’s office and was dismissed in 2021, failing to pass the attestation.
The investigation established that subsequently russian special services had recruited the individual to conduct intelligence and sabotage against Ukraine.
Following the enemy’s instructions, he tried to obtain maps of minefields put by the Defence Forces in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, as well as in the frontline areas of eastern Ukraine.
The spy also collected intelligence on possible combat positions of M142 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and locations of ammunition, fuel and lubricants depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The enemy agent was looking for informants, whom he offered high monetary ‘rewards’ in case of obtaining classified information.
Occupiers needed the data to launch air strikes against Ukrainian troops and map Ukrainian fortifications.
However, the SSU was proactive: the traitor’s actions were documented, and he was detained after receiving imitation coordinates of HIMARS.
The investigation established that the offender had also set up a scheme for illegal transportation of draft evaders across the border.
He involved several accomplices in this activity, who offered their ‘clients’ counterfeit documents to escape from Ukraine.
During the search of the lawyer, the SSU found computer equipment, mobile phones and data storage devices confirming his sabotage activities for the benefit of the aggressor state.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).
Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint. The investigation is ongoing.
The SSU carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
