SSU detains FSB agent sent from russia to Ukraine to adjust strikes on Kharkiv
The SSU Military Counterintelligence has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service in Kharkiv. He was reconnoitering locations of the Defense Forces and tried to help the occupiers prepare new strikes on the region.
According to the investigation, the traitor is a 37-year-old local resident. The FSB recruited him in russia, where his wife lived and where he fled at the beginning of the full-scale war.
On the instructions of the FSB officer Yevgeny Nikolayevich Konyakhin, the asset returned to Kharkiv in May 2023 through third countries and began his work for the enemy.
The aggressor’s main targets were military grounds where Ukrainian defenders are trained.
The agent carried out reconnaissance sorties under the guise of business trips, during which he secretly recorded locations of defense facilities.
He also tried to use his acquaintances, including military personnel and volunteers, hoping they would unwittingly provide some information.
During seemingly friendly conversations, the perpetrator tried to find out locations of Ukrainian troops, their number and weapons.
The SSU Military Counterintelligence uncovered the agent at an early stage, documented his criminal actions and detained him.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Kharkiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
