SSU detains FSB agent who set up observation post in attic of high-rise building to adjust russian strikes on Mykolaiv

The SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another FSB agent of russia’s federal security service in Mykolaiv. He is a former lecturer of a local university. The perpetrator adjusted enemy missile and drone strikes on the city.

To direct enemy weapons evading air defences, the traitor tried to identify combat positions of Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems and mobile air defense groups.

To do this, he installed a hidden video camera in the attic of the high-rise building where he lived.

With the help of this ‘observation post’, the spy also hoped to track the approximate number and types of weapons of Ukrainian troops moving towards the frontline.

The SSU documented his crimes and detained him at his home. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the positions of the Defence Forces.

During the searches, a mobile phone, a video camera and a flash drive with evidence of reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine were seized.

According to the investigation, the man came to the attention of the FSB when he posted his anti-Ukrainian comments on russian Telegram channels.

After remote recruitment, his further communication with the occupiers took place through a ‘liaison’ in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
