SSU detains FSB agent preparing russian missile strikes on fuel depots in Zaporizhzhia
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained an FSB agent who was preparing new russian missile and drone strikes on Zaporizhzhia, a frontline city.
This time, the aggressor tried to target local fuel and lubricant depots.
The enemy also wanted to obtain intelligence on the routes of tanker trucks transporting fuel for the military vehicles of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
To do this, the FSB engaged its agent, a 47-year-old unemployed resident of Zaporizhzhia.
The perpetrator drove around the city and its suburbs, recording geolocations of logistic warehouses.
During such trips, he tracked the movement of tankers moving towards the southern front.
Later, he was supposed to pass the information to the FSB as marks on Google maps with detailed descriptions of potential targets.
However, the SSU Counterintelligence foiled the aggressor’s plans and detained the suspect ‘red-handed’ when he was conducting reconnaissance near a critical infrastructure facility.
During the search of his home, the SSU seized a mobile phone used in reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine.
The investigators have now served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law, by a group).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
