SSU detains FSB agent who adjusted strikes on Cherkasy region

In Cherkasy, the SSU Counterintelligence apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service.

The enemy’s accomplice is a 33-year-old local resident who was preparing coordinates for russian missile and drone attacks on the region.

The man received a list of approximate geolocations from his russian handler where he was to conduct additional reconnaissance.

The aggressor’s priority targets were training centres of the State Border Guard Service and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including barracks where soldiers lived.

The perpetrator drove his car around locations where the enemy believed that Ukrainian defenders were based.

Following the FSB’s instructions, the agent was filming the outer perimeter of the facilities looking for military personnel and equipment.

After such trips, the asset returned home and prepared a report for his russian handler.

If the information was confirmed, the occupiers were going to attack the targets with missiles and kamikaze drones.

The SSU uncovered the agent at an early stage, documented his crimes and caught him in the act when he was reconnoitering a military installation.

His mobile phone with evidence of working for the enemy was seized at the scene.

SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
