SSU detains FSB agent who collected intelligence for russians to help break through Kyiv defences in 2022 (video)

In Kyiv, the SSU has detained a ‘sleeper’ agent of the FSB. In the first days of the full-scale invasion, he collected intelligence for the ruscists. However, when the traitor realized that they would not be able to take the capital, he laid low, hoping to evade justice.

In February-March 2022, the agent was instructed to identify locations of Ukrainian defenders taking part in the battles for Kyiv.

The enemy was primarily interested in the strongholds and firing positions of the SSU Special Operations Centre ‘A’ in the city and its suburbs.

To gather intelligence, the man walked the streets between curfews, posing as an ordinary citizen.

He tried to covertly record as many locations of Ukrainian defenders as possible to prepare a ‘report’ for the FSB.

With the help of the asset’s data, the occupiers hoped to identify combat positions of Ukrainian special forces and launch targeted air strikes against them.

However, the aggressor failed to carry out its plans. When ruscists realized they would not be able to capture Kyiv quickly, the agent went into hiding for a long time and stopped his intelligence gathering to avoid exposure.

Later, he got in touch with his russian handler and received new instructions.

This time, the enemy accomplice was to disseminate kremlin propaganda on social media, presenting it as ‘general sentiment’ of residents in Kyiv region.

In his posts on Facebook, the traitor praised the ruscists and called for the occupation of Kyiv region.

During the searches at the suspect’s homes, the SSU found computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of his reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under four Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 161.1 (intentional actions aimed at inciting national hatred);
  • 436 (propaganda of war);
  • 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

The special operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
