SSU detains enemy agent who prepared air strikes on Kyiv electricity and heat plants during heating season (video)
As a result of a multi-stage special operation in Kyiv region, the SSU Counterintelligence detained another agent of ‘the GRU’ (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces).
The spy is a director of a department of one of Kyiv insurance companies, recruited remotely by the russian military intelligence after the full-scale aggression started.
Using the cover of the insurance business, the official initiated personal meetings with heads of Kyiv energy generating enterprises under the pretext of concluding insurance contracts.
He used this ‘topic’ to get as much information as possible from his interlocutors on the consequences of russian strikes on Ukrainian critical infrastructure facilities.
Primarily, the ‘insurance expert’ was interested in data on the extent of damage and current technical condition of Kyiv power plants, which had been attacked by the aggressor.
The enemy asset sent the gathered intelligence via a messenger app to his moscow handler, a GRU officer.
The enemy needed the data to prepare and adjust repeated air strikes on the capital’s energy companies during the heating season.
The SSU detained the traitor at his home in a village in Kyiv region.
During the search, the SSU seized a mobile phone used by the suspect in his reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
