SSU detains agent of russian military intelligence preparing strikes on Zaporizhzhia air defence
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy agent operating in Zaporizhzhia, a city near the frontline.
The perpetrator tried to identify accurate coordinates of air defence missile systems and pass them to the aggressor.
He was also tracking the routes and number of Ukrainian military vehicles moving towards the frontline.
The ruscists intended to use this information to plan missile and drone strikes on the region, prepare combat operations on Zaporizhzhia direction.
As the investigation established, the agent was in contact with an officer of the 316th intelligence centre of the GRU (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces) in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol.
The latter reported directly to the GRU leadership.
However, the SSU disrupted russia’s plans and detained their asset ‘red-handed’ when he was conducting reconnaissance near a potential target.
Action was taken to protect the locations of Ukrainian troops.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
