SSU detains agent who passed intelligence on air defence to enemy through russian ‘journalists’
In Odesa, cyber specialists of the SSU have exposed another enemy agent. He collected intelligence on location of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the southern region and in Kyiv.
His primary objective was to identify locations of control centers and air defence system of Ukrainian troops.
The agent passed the collected information through a ‘liaison’ – an agent of the FSB in the pro-kremlin news agency Bel.ru, located in Belgorod region, russia.
For communication and transmitting classified data, they used a pre-arranged anonymous Telegram channel.
The enemy planned to use the obtained intelligence to carry out missile strikes against Ukrainian military targets.
As a result of a special operation in Odesa, the SSU detained the traitor on his attempt to pass information to russians.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a local resident, whom the FSB engaged in covert cooperation after the full-scale invasion.
The individual received an ‘offer’ to work for occupiers through banned social networks, where he repeatedly expressed support for armed aggression against Ukraine.
During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU seized mobile phones, which the agent used to contact the russian special service.
The SSU also found communist symbols and propaganda material of the russian communist party, banned in Ukraine.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion.
Court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region exposed the agent under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
