SSU detains FSB’s activated sleeper agent who got a job at defence plant in Kirovohrad oblast

As a result of a multi-stage special operation in Kirovohrad region, the SSU Counterintelligence detained an FSB agent. The enemy asset was instructed to get a job at a local defence company and collect secret information on repair of the AFU’s military equipment.

The suspect managed to get appointed to the position of a chief caretaker a few weeks ago. He almost immediately started collecting intelligence for russia, but the SSU carefully documented his every move.

The agent tried to identify the exact number and types of foreign weapons that were being serviced at the Ukrainian defence company.

The SSU Counterintelligence caught the suspect in the act when he was covertly photographing classified documents.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a local resident, recruited by the FSB long before the start of russia’s full-scale invasion.

The man came to the aggressor’s attention during his long stay in russia, working at various enterprises.

He was put on standby, sent to Ukraine and was ‘activated’ after the start of the full-scale invasion.

The spy was to transmit classified information via a messenger app.

If the agent successfully fulfilled the assignments, the FSB ‘guaranteed’ him assistance in travelling to russia and obtaining russian citizenship.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU - high treason committed under martial law.

The court chose custody without bail as a measure of restraint for the traitor, who is now facing life imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Kirovohrad region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
