SSU detains FSB ‘infiltration agents’ who provided enemy with intelligence on AFU positions and recruited informants (video)
As a result of a multi-stage special operation in several regions, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another two FSB agents.
One of them is a resident of Kharkiv region, who was recruited by the russian special service at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Shortly after, the agent moved to Sumy oblast as an internally displaced person and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where conducted reconnaissance and sabotage activities against our country.
After the military enlistment office, he was sent to a training center in Zhytomyr region.
While there, the spy collected personal data of combat training instructors and covertly ‘studied’ the security system of the military facility.
Subsequently, the serviceman was deployed with the Ukrainian troops to Donetsk region.
There, he continued to collect intelligence for occupiers.
In eastern Ukraine, the traitor was interested in locations and routes of movement of the AFU units near Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.
The agent also involved his fellow villager in criminal activity. The accomplice moved with him to Sumy as an IDP after February 24 last year and later to Odesa region.
After agreeing to the russian informant’s offer, his ‘colleague’ received instructions and began to conduct reconnaissance of Ukrainian Defence Forces bases in the Black Sea region.
He was primarily trying to identify depots with artillery weapons and ammunition.
To do this, the spy drove around the area and covertly observed Ukrainian facilities.
Both perpetrators transmitted collected data to the aggressor through secure communication channels in the form of electronic coordinates and detailed descriptions of surrounding areas.
The agents were constantly looking for ‘like-minded people’, whom they aimed to involve in working for the FSB.
Former military personnel and women living in the frontline areas in the south and east of Ukraine were seen as potential candidates for recruitment.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained both traitors on their attempts to pass classified information to the aggressor.
During the searches of the suspects’ homes, the SSU found smartphones with evidence of covert communication with the FSB.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under the Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law). The detainees have been notified of suspicion. Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint.
The SSU Sumy Office carried out the operation jointly with the SSU Military Counterintelligence Department under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
