SSU detains enemy agents who tried to install GPS beacon on special vehicles accompanying AFU convoys to frontline

In Kirovohrad region, the SSU has apprehended an enemy agent and his minor accomplice who were spying on military equipment of the Defence Forces.

To fulfill the task, the assets had to covertly install a GPS tracker on a special vehicle accompanying the Armed Forces convoys.

In this way, the aggressor planned to collect intelligence on the movement and arrival points of Ukrainian troops in the frontline areas in real time.

To do this, russia recruited a 20-year-old unemployed man from Kyiv region who was looking for easy money on Telegram.

After the recruitment, he arrived in Kirovohrad region and began collecting data on the locations and movements of military convoys.

He involved a 17-year-old resident of the region in the reconnaissance and used him, promising quick money.

On the agent’s instructions, the teenager tracked down the parking place of a special vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At dusk, he tried to install a beacon on it.

At that moment, the youngster was detained by the SSU. The main agent, who coordinated the minor’s actions, was also caught.

During the searches, the SSU seized mobile phones with evidence of the crime, as well as the GPS tracker.

The investigation also revealed that the 20-year-old agent had also recorded the locations of a Territorial Recruitment Center and parking sites of service vehicles of Ukrainian troops.

For secrecy, the man rented flats for a day and communicated with the occupiers through an anonymous chat in a messenger app.

SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigation is ongoing. The minor involved is currently cooperating with the investigation.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
