SSU detains FSB agent preparing terrorist attack near Rivne Territorial Recruitment Center on russia’s order
The Security Service of Ukraine has prevented another attempt of russia’s federal security service to carry out a terrorist attack in Ukraine. As a result of a special operation in Rivne, the Service detained an enemy agent who was preparing to detonate an improvised explosive device near a Territorial Recruitment Center.
The perpetrator was to leave the bomb near the military facility when a maximum number of citizens was supposed to be on its territory.
The russian special service planned to detonate the IED together with the terrorist to eliminate her as an ‘unnecessary’ witness.
The SSU Counterintelligence identified the agent in time and detained her on her way to the location of the planned terrorist attack.
The investigation established that the suspect was a 42-year-old resident of Vinnytsia, who came to the FSB’s attention while looking for ‘quick money’ on Telegram.
On the instructions of the occupiers, the woman arrived in Rivne, where she first conducted reconnaissance near the city’s TRC and ‘reported’ to her handler.
Next, she was supposed to get the explosives from a pre-prepared cache and deliver them to the target site. However, the SSU was proactive and prevented the crime and human casualties.
SSU investigators have now served the detainee a notice of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 263.1 (illegal handling of explosives).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Rivne region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
