SSU detains russian agent who ‘hunted’ for location of Ukrainian combat aircraft on southern direction

In Mykolaiv, the SSU exposed a russian agent, who collected intelligence on deployment of Ukrainian Defence Forces in the south of Ukraine.

The spy passed information to the enemy on movement of Ukrainian military equipment, including locations of combat aircraft in Mykolaiv oblast.

The woman also informed russians on location of strategic critical infrastructure in the region.

Occupiers used the obtained intelligence to prepare missile strikes on Ukrainian targets.

However, the SSU exposed and detained the traitor when she attempted to pass more information to russians. Thus, the Service averted implementation of enemy plans to conduct air strikes on the southern direction.

The detainee is a resident of Mykolaiv, recruited by russian special services after the full-scale invasion started. The woman came to attention of the aggressor state because of her pro-kremlin views, which she repeatedly and openly expressed.

To communicate with her russian handler, the agent used anonymous messenger apps and transmitted data in the form of photos with descriptions of the area.

During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found communication devices with evidence of her unlawful activity.

The detainee has been notified of suspicion. Court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the operation under the procedural oversight of Mykolaiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
