SSU detains GRU agent and two collaborators from Kherson, including occupation ‘vice mayor’
The SSU has apprehended another three individuals who collaborated with the enemy in Kherson region.
One of them is a Kherson resident – an agent of russia’s military intelligence (‘the GRU’) who adjusted enemy fire on Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
To do this, the woman drove a scooter around the community and tried to identify locations of Ukrainian troops involved in combat operations at the front.
Her priorities were camouflaged command posts, firing positions and strongholds of the AFU.
The collected information was sent via a messenger app as screenshots with markings of military facilities on Google maps.
The SSU detained the traitor at her home and took action to protect the positions of the Defense Forces.
Another perpetrator is a 60-year-old former law enforcement officer from Kherson who joined russia’s local occupation administration after the area was captured.
The former gauleiter of the city, Oleksandr Kobets, appointed him as his ‘deputy on legal issues’.
One of his tasks was the preparation of the russian sham referendum on the region’s accession to the aggressor state.
The third suspect, apprehended by the SSU jointly with the National Police, is also a resident of Kherson and was a member of the so-called ‘main directorate of russia’s ministry of internal affairs in Kherson region’ during the occupation.
The collaborator was engaged in the ‘passportization’ of local population through forced registration of russian citizenship.
SSU investigators notified the detainees of suspicion (in accordance with the crimes committed) under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 111-1.5, 111-1.7 (collaboration).
The suspects are in custody and face from 15 years in prison to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Kherson Office jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
