SSU detains GRU agent who after her brother’s detention continued his ‘spy work’ for russia in Donetsk region
In Donetsk oblast, the Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended another agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’). She adjusted ruscist missile, bomb and artillery strikes on the defenders of Sloviansk.
The perpetrator is a local woman who in the autumn of 2024 helped her brother, an enemy agent, to collect intelligence on the city’s defence forces.
Then the SSU Counterintelligence detained the man and his accomplices in the frontline community. When his sister found out about it, she lay low trying to hide from justice.
Soon, her brother’s russian handler contacted her remotely and offered to continue cooperation.
On the GRU’s instructions, the woman walked around the target area and recorded the places of large concentrations of Ukrainian personnel and military equipment.
The SSU found the traitor, documented her crimes and took action to protect the locations of the Defence Forces.
During the search, a mobile phone used by her to contact her ‘liaison’, a militant of the ‘DNR internal troops’ was seized. The SSU has already identified him.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
