SSU detains GRU agent spying on combat aviation of Ukrainian Armed Forces
The SSU CI detained another traitor who helped russia collect intelligence on the Defense Forces in Chernihiv region.
The malefactor was working in favour of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the russian armed forces (known as GRU).
Being directed by the GRU, the alleged covertly tracked the locations and movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the northern borders.
First and foremost, the malefactor sought to record the exact time and directions of flights of Ukrainian combat aircraft involved in supporting the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces at the frontline.
The malefactor also intended to identify and pass on to the occupiers the locations of air defense, fortified district and fortifications of Ukrainian defenders in the region.
According to the data, the russians planned to use the information to prepare air attacks on the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The SSU officers detained the suspect while trying to pass on the data.
During the searches, the SSU seized a cell phone used to communicate with the aggressor.
Given the collected evidence, she was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
She is currently in custody and has fully pleaded guilty. The investigation is ongoing. The offender is facing life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
