SSU detains militant who robbed Ukrainians at russian checkpoints during battle for Mykolaiv oblast
The SSU has uncovered another enemy accomplice who collaborated with russian troops during the occupation of part of Mykolaiv region.
The perpetrator is a native of Snihurivka district. After its seizure, he helped invaders check local residents who were trying to leave for the Ukraine-controlled territory.
To do this, the man volunteered to ‘stand guard’ at enemy checkpoints at the exits from the settlement.
There, he stopped Ukrainians’ cars at gunpoint and took mobile phones, passports and other documents for an ‘inspection’.
Then, he ordered people out of the vehicles and offered them to stay in the occupied part and cooperate with the ruscists.
The invaders also ‘confiscated’ vehicles, money and other personal belongings of the victims.
However, during the liberation of Snihurivka, the occupiers left their accomplice behind and did not take him with them to the left bank of Kherson region.
For a long time, the suspect was hiding from justice in the area, trying to lay low and changing addresses.
However, the SSU eventually tracked him down and apprehended him in the de-occupied territory of the region.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding the aggressor state).
The suspect is in custody, facing up to 12 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
