SSU detains ‘DNR’ militant who tried to lay low in Vinnytsia

In Vinnytsia, the SSU Counterintelligence detained a former militant of the terrorist organization ‘DNR’.

The offender was a resident of Donetsk region, who in 2014 joined the ranks of the ‘reconnaissance company’ of the Vostok grouping, controlled by the 1st army corps of the russian armed forces.

The same year, he took an active part in capturing administrative buildings and key critical infrastructure facilities in Horlivka.

Sometime before the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, the militant decided to leave the occupiers’ ranks and moved to Vinnytsia, where tried to hide from justice.

However, the SSU established his location and detained the man near his temporary home.

The SSU seized the suspects’ phone, where he stored photos from the period when he fought against the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces in Donetsk region.

SSU investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion under Article 258-3.1 of the CCU (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization).

The court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the detained individual, who is now facing up to 15 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Vinnytsia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
