SSU detains member of village council who helped enemy steal Ukrainian grain in Kharkiv region

In the liberated districts of Kharkiv region, the SSU exposed another enemy accomplice.

The offender is a member of one of the village councils of Kupiansk district.

During the occupation of part of the region, he was one of the first to begin collaborating with the enemy. Owning several agricultural enterprises, the official offered occupiers his assistance in illegal export of Ukrainian grain from the east of Ukraine to russia.

To do this, he ‘re-registered’ his agricultural business in the local occupation administration and began to pay taxes to russian budget.

The entrepreneur was supposed to give away most of the harvested crop to invaders, and to sell the rest on the territory of the aggressor state.

In addition, the businessman provided access to his own logistics warehouses to keep and repair enemy military equipment, as well as provided fuel for refueling.

After the de-occupation, the village council member stayed in the area and hoped to avoid punishment. However, the SSU exposed his unlawful activity and detained him.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion of aiding the aggressor state (Article 111-2.1 of the CCU). Court is to decide on custody as a measure of detention.

The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Kharkiv Region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
