SSU detains local council member from Khmelnytskyi region who worked for FSB and recruited her son and daughter (video)
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained a group of FSB agents who operated in Khmelnytskyi oblast. The enemy cell included a local council deputy and her two children: a 42-year-old son and a 37-year-old daughter.
On the instructions of the russian intelligence, the assets tried to identify the bases and routes of mobile air defence squads protecting the region from russian air strikes.
The aggressor’s service was also interested in sites with large concentrations of personnel, military equipment, weapon depots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
To gather intelligence, the perpetrators drove around the region in their car under the guise of family trips.
During such trips, the woman covertly took pictures of the targets, while her son put the marks on Google Maps.
The local council deputy summarized the obtained information and sent it to her FSB handler via a messenger app.
For fulfilling the enemy assignments, the agent group received money from the occupiers, transferred to the bank card of the official’s daughter.
The SSU uncovered the agents at an early stage of their reconnaissance activity and documented their criminal actions.
As a result, all three were caught ‘red-handed’ while spying on air defence fire groups.
According to the investigation, the local council member came to the attention of the russian service earlier this year because of her pro-kremlin activity on Odnoklassniki social network.
Once recruited, the woman involved her son and daughter in the crime.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainees of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Khmelnytskyi Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
