SSU detains dealers about to export sighting systems for combat aircraft from Ukraine

The SSU has prevented an attempt to illegally export high-tech aviation equipment from Ukraine.

In two regions of our country, the SSU detained dealers who tried to smuggle Ukrainian components for combat aircraft abroad.

The seized items include equipment for a fighter jet sighting system.

In Kropyvnytskyi:

The SSU apprehended a local resident who planned to set up a transnational channel to smuggle military goods.

The man tried to sell components for a MiG-29 fighter jet optoelectronic guidance system to the EU.

To send the parcel, he wanted to use a popular postal service, providing false information in the customs declaration.

However, the SSU identified the suspect timely, documented the crime and detained him on the attempt to ship the aircraft parts.

According to the available information, the buyers of the equipment wanted to resell it at a higher price.

In Poltava region:

Another suspect who intended to sell aircraft parts abroad was uncovered.

The components were for Mi-24 attack helicopters and Ka-27 naval helicopters.

To find customers, the seller placed online advertisements on international trading platforms.

Having found a foreign buyer, he prepared the parcel, registering it as ‘civilian equipment’.

The SSU detained the suspect when he was sending the helicopter components.

A search of his apartment revealed more equipment that the offender was preparing to send abroad.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the detained individuals of suspicion under Article 333 of the CCU (violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control).

The suspects face imprisonment. Investigations are ongoing to establish the origin of the military equipment.

The operations were conducted by the SSU Poltava and Kirovohrad Offices with the assistance of Lviv Customs and the procedural supervision of regional prosecutors.
