SSU detains two russian agents, including design engineer of Motor Sich plant

The SSU cyber units have exposed two FSB agents who conducted sabotage and reconnaissance activities in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

In early February 2023, they were recruited by an officer of the FSB directorate in Altai krai, russia. The recruitment took place via the Telegram channel, where the individuals in question published their pro-kremlin comments.

Following the enemy’s instructions, the agents reconnoitered locations of Ukrainian military facilities and law enforcement agencies.

The SSU documented all stages of their criminal actions.

In Zaporizhzhia, the enemy’s accomplice turned out to be a design engineer at Motor Sich enterprise. The man was collecting intelligence on Ukrainian Defence Forces in the city.

The SSU detained the traitor while he was on a reconnaissance mission - taking georeferenced photos of the buildings of a military hospital and a prosecutor’s office.

Another russian agent was detained in Kyiv suburbs when he tried to take photos of a building of the State Emergency Service.

The occupiers needed the intelligence to conduct missile attacks on Ukrainian targets and prepare sabotage in the regions.

During the search, the SSU seized mobile phones with evidence of the agents’ fulfilling enemy assignments and communicating with the aggressor.

The SSU notified both detained persons of suspicion of high treason (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The court has chosen custody as a measure of restraint. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the involved to justice.

The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out operational and investigative activities under the supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
