SSU detains two russian agents who prepared missile strikes on railway junctions and energy facilities in Odesa and Kherson

In the course of large-scale counter-sabotage efforts in the frontline areas of southern Ukraine, SSU cyber specialists exposed another two FSB agents.

Instructed by the enemy, they were collecting information on bases and movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Southern direction.

The informants also provided russians with intelligence on location of critical infrastructure in Odesa and Kherson.

The aggressor was primarily interested in accurate coordinates of Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways] facilities and energy generating enterprises.

Occupiers planned to use the data to prepare and launch a series of targeted missile strikes at Ukrainian cities.

But due to the SSU’s preemptive efforts, both agents were timely exposed and detained on an attempt to pass intelligence to the invaders.

One of the traitors was detained near the central railway station in Kherson, the other - in Odesa, after covertly photographing a military facility.

The aggressor’s accomplices are local residents, recruited by the FSB after the start of the full-scale invasion.

Both perpetrators were in constant communication with an officer of the FSB directorate in Rostov region under the nickname ‘Buba Kastorsky’.

It was from him that the agents received assignments to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage in Ukraine’s southern region.

A specially created anonymous Telegram channel was used for passing the collected information.

During the searches, the SSU found smartphones with evidence of the suspects’ communication with the FSB.

The SSU has notified both detainees of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

Court has chosen custody as a measure of restraint.

The suspects are facing up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out the operational and investigative activities jointly with the SSU Main Investigation Department under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
