Kyiv: SSU detains russian saboteur who set fire to Ukrzaliznytsia relay cabinet

The SSU and the National Police detained a saboteur who was preparing a series of arson attacks on strategic Ukrzaliznytsia facilities in Kyiv on the instructions of russian intelligence.

The main enemy targets were relay cabinets along the main railway lines in Kyiv.

To commit sabotage, the occupiers engaged a local resident who was looking for money in Telegram channels and thus came to the attention of the aggressor.

To fulfill the hostile task, the offender first agreed on the “arson target” with his supervisor, and then poured a flammable mixture on the technological equipment of Ukrzaliznytsia and set it on fire.

The saboteur then recorded the fire on his phone camera to “report” to the aggressor country's intelligence service.

SBU officers documented the subversive activities and detained the suspect as a result of a special operation in Kyiv.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator was preparing several more arson attacks on key Ukrzaliznytsia facilities.

In this way, the enemy planned to damage the logistics of the Defense Forces.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Articles 28.2 and 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).

The saboteur is currently in custody facing life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
