SSU detains former Party of Regions' MP who worked for fsb and guided russian strikes in Sumy region
The Security Service of Ukraine detained another fsb agent in Sumy region. It was a 48-year-old ex-deputy from the banned Party of Regions of the Shostka City Council. According to the case materials, the perpetrator spied on the Defense Forces and called on ruscists to bomb the city.
The investigation revealed that the agent was covertly tracking the movement of the Armed Forces echelons and recording the locations of Ukrainian troops defending the border of Sumy region.
To do this, he used to drive around the area in his car and take relevant photos and videos.
In addition, the traitor tried to find out the information he needed from his friends during ‘household conversations’.
He sent the received information to a career officer of the fsb department in Bryansk region. His identity and personal data have already been established by the SSU.
In the agent's ‘reports’, the traitor not only provided russians with the coordinates but also asked them to strike the city as soon as possible, in particular, buildings of the Territorial center for recruitment and social support.
SSU officers documented the former MP's crimes and detained him at his place of residence in Shostka.
According to the investigation, the suspect was remotely recruited by the fsb representatives in July 2024.
A cell phone with evidence of subversive activities was seized from the perpetrator during the searches.
SSU investigators served the agent a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Office in Sumy region under the procedural supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
