The SBU detained the former head of Ukrzaliznytsia manufacturing unit. The official is suspected of misappropriation of UAH 1 m. (USD 37,289).

The offender escaped pre-trial investigation agencies to avoid criminal liability.

Allegedly, the former official organized a scheme of misappropriation of money allocated for the maintenance of rail equipment.

Under the terms of the contract, the participants were to service the machine complexes, which were designed for the reconstruction of railways.

However, instead of performance of the agreement, the participants moved out into the shadow allocated funds.

The SBU served the participant and the head of commercial entity a notice of suspicions of misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion or property by malversation and forgery in office.

The indictments were sent to court. A measure of restraint is being chosen.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of the State`s Interest in the Sphere of Economic Security together with the Pechersk Police Directorate of the Main National Police Department in Kyiv City, under the supervision of Pechersk District Prosecutor`s Office of Kyiv City.
