SBU detains wanted counterfeiter (video)
The SBU exposed a criminal group that counterfeited money. The banknotes were not identified as counterfeit even by fake currency detector.
The SBU established that a Russian citizen organized the illegal business.
He is on the NSDC designations list and is considered to be a crime boss.
The criminal group also included other Russian and Ukrainian citizens.
They sold counterfeit banknotes that came to Ukraine from abroad below the face value.
SBU officers detained the organizer and a group member.
Law enforcement carried out searches of the offenders’ residences, places of registration and vehicles.
Currently, both suspects received suspicion notices of making, storage, purchase, transportation, mailing, or bringing into Ukraine for selling purposes, or sale of counterfeit money, public securities, state lottery tickets, excise stamps or holographic security stickers.
Custody was chosen as a type of detention with an opportunity to pay a bail.
The operation was carried out jointly with the National Police Investigation Department in Odesa region under the supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
