SSU detains informant who guided russia’s missiles at Mykolaiv plants and ‘hunted’ for Bradley fighting vehicles
In Mykolaiv, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another agent of the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces (aka ‘the GRU’). The spy adjusted russia’s air strikes on the city.
For example, it was his intelligence that ruscists used to strike Mykolaiv Shipyard. As a result of that attack, 6 civilians were injured, their homes were damaged.
The enemy’s accomplice also provided the GRU with information on bases and movements of the Defence Forces in Mykolaiv.
Primarily, the russian military intelligence was interested in locations of ammunition depots and routes of movement of the AFU’s heavy armored vehicles, including Leopard tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles.
The spy received money from his russian handler for carrying out reconnaissance assignments.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained the GRU agent when he was collecting new data on the Defence Forces in the city.
According to the investigation, the suspect is local resident, recruited remotely by the russian special service earlier this year.
The man came to the invaders’ attention as an active user of pro-kremlin Telegram channels, where he regularly posted his anti-Ukrainian comments under fake news.
The spy walked around target areas and recorded the ‘necessary’ locations or used his acquaintances, who unwittingly provided some information.
During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone with evidence of reconnaissance and sabotage activities as well as ammunition for small arms.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU.
The suspect is in custody, facing up to 12 years in prison.
The SSU Mykolaiv Office carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
