SSU detains enemy informant who prepared ruscist breakthrough in Donetsk region

The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy informant in Donetsk oblast. He tried to help russia break through Ukrainian defences on Pokrovsk direction, currently one of the hottest spots of the frontline.

The perpetrator passed the geolocations of firing positions of Ukrainian artillery and fortifications to the occupiers.

To identify the locations of the AFU, the man hitchhiked around the frontline villages and covertly recorded the potential targets.

During the reconnaissance sorties, he ‘reported’ to russian intelligence about the sites of possible deployment of Ukrainian defenders.

Using these coordinates, the ruscists planned to carry out massive attacks using high explosive bombs and rocket artillery.

However, the SSU disrupted the enemy plans.

Action was taken to protect the AFU’s bases, and the suspect was detained at his home.

The SSU seized the informant’s mobile phone, from which he sent voice messages to the invaders.

According to the investigation, the aggressor’s accomplice is a local resident, an ideological supporter of ruscism.

He was in contact with his two acquaintances - militants of the russian occupation groupings fighting on the eastern front. Through them, the information was passed to the russian military intelligence.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement of weapons, armaments and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
