SSU detains enemy informant who spied on Ukrainian artillery near Chasiv Yar
The SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another enemy agent who operated in Donetsk region. The perpetrator was spying on Ukrainian troops holding defence in Kramatorsk sector.
He was trying to identify combat positions of Ukrainian artillery, which fires at the russian assault groups trying to capture Chasiv Yar.
The enemy was also interested in large concentrations of military equipment and ammunition depots of the Defence Forces.
To collect intelligence, the aggressor recruited a 52-year-old resident of frontline Druzhkivka.
To recruit him, the ruscists used his friend, who left Ukraine for russia in 2014 and later joined a brigade of the russian guard.
Being in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region, the militant acted as a ‘liaison’ and passed information to the russians.
The SSU uncovered the agent in Druzhkivka at an early stage, documented his criminal actions and detained him.
During the searches, the investigators seized his mobile phone and SIM cards used for communication with the aggressor.
Based on the evidence, the SSU served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The investigation is carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
