SSU detains informant of russian GRU preparing missile attack on Mykolaiv bypassing air defenses
In Mykolaiv, the SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another agent of russian military intelligence. The traitor was collecting coordinates of targets for new missile and drone strikes on the city.
The enemy intended to target plants and production facilities of Ukraine’s defense industry.
In order to strike these sites bypassing Ukrainian air defense, the aggressor tried to find the AFU anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations.
To do this, the GRU engaged a woman, a former accountant of a local enterprise.
To collect intelligence, she traveled around the city by public transport as well as walked.
If she found the ‘right’ location, she recorded it on her phone camera, pretending to be talking to someone.
Then, the agent sent a report to her russian handler, a serving officer of the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces. The SSU has identified this ‘supervisor’.
The actions of the enemy accomplice were documented and she was apprehended. The investigators seized her mobile phone, which was used for communication with the GRU.
The SSU has served her a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or location of the AFU).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Mykolaiv Office under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
