SSU detains hacker who prepared cyberattacks on Ukrainian government websites and guided russian missiles at Kharkiv (video)
In Kharkiv, the SSU’s cyber unit exposed a member of the people’s cyber army, an FSB-controlled russian cyber group.
The perpetrator adjusted enemy strikes on the city and prepared cyberattacks on Ukrainian government websites.
The occupiers used the data provided by him to carry out two missile attacks on the city’s civilian infrastructure, including a local hospital.
The traitor was also spying on locations of the Defense Forces in the region, in particular, potential sites of the AFU air defense and artillery positions.
Among other things, the hacker was fulfilling the FSB’s instructions to prepare a series of DDoS attacks on the websites of Ukrainian state enterprises and government agencies.
As a result of a counter-sabotage operation, the SSU detained the offender.
According to the investigation, the suspect is a local resident, an IT specialist, recruited by the FSB through a specialized Telegram channel.
To collect intelligence on the Defense Forces, the man walked in the area and covertly recorded possible locations of Ukrainian defenders.
He sent the screenshots of electronic maps with coordinates of potential targets to the FSB via a messenger app.
During the search of the detainee’s home, the SSU seized 3 mobile phones, a laptop, and flash drives, which he used in sabotage against Ukraine.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on supply, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU).
The suspect is in custody, facing up to 12 years in prison.
The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
