SSU detains hacker who stole databases of Ukrainian banks and sold them on platforms administered by russian special services

Since russia started its full-scale aggression, the SSU has neutralized over 1,200 cyber incidents and cyber attacks on information systems of government and critical infrastructure of Ukraine.

Among their targets were Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways), Ukrenergo, financial and telecommunications companies.

In Kyiv:

The SSU Cyber Department detained a hacker who specialized in theft of restricted information circulating in electronic systems of domestic and foreign companies and banks.

To gain unauthorized access to computer networks, the hacker developed specialized malware. Then, he spread it through the e-mails of banks and businesses, and thus gained remote access to their digital systems.

The hacker ‘leaked’ the data to anonymous Internet platforms administered from russia by russian special services.

During the searches of the suspect’s home, the law enforcement found computer equipment, bank cards and mobile phones with evidence of criminal activity.

The detainee has been notified of suspicion of committing a crime under Article 361-1.1 (developing of malware) of the CCU.

In Donetsk region:

The SSU cyber specialists exposed a russian agent who broadcasted pro-kremlin content on the temporarily occupied territory of the region.

The traitor is a local whom russian special services involved in carrying out subversive activities against our state.

He used a self-developed mobile application for Android, iOS operating systems and TVs with Smart TV technology.

Pro-russian agitators used these channels to spread propaganda in support of invaders and justify their crimes, including in the east of Ukraine.

The enemy agent was brought to Ukraine-controlled territory, where the SSU detained him. The detainee has been notified of suspicion under Article 436 (war propaganda) of the CCU.

In Cherkasy region:

Another pro-kremlin propagandist was detained. The agent popularized the occupying forces and supported their criminal actions of killing Ukrainians, including by enemy missile attacks on civilian infrastructure.

He published destructive content as posts on his personal page in the russian social network Odnoklasniki.

The SSU will continue to protect Ukraine’s cyber and information domains from the occupiers.
