SSU detains collaborator who organized broadcasting of russia’s ‘channel one’ during occupation of Kharkiv region

The SSU has uncovered another traitor who collaborated with the enemy during the occupation of Kharkiv region.

The perpetrator is a former engineer of a local TV and radio company, resident of Velykyi Burluk village, Kupiansk district.

After the community was captured, the man organized the broadcasting of central russian TV channels in the area.

To do this, he illegally used the Ukraine’s digital terrestrial television frequencies.

For cooperation, the occupiers’ accomplice received a ‘position’ in russia’s local occupation administration with a ‘salary’ in rubles.

In June 2022, the collaborator gave an interview to the enemy propagandist Mariana Naumova, which was shown on the kremlin’s ‘channel one’.

In that footage, the local resident praised the occupation regime and expressed hope for opening of ‘russian shops with russian prices’ in Kharkiv region.

He also appeared on russian TV in a staged story about provision of russian ‘humanitarian aid’ to local population.

After the de-occupation, the ruscists’ supporter stayed in his home village, earning money by repairing household appliances.

The SSU identified, located and detained the suspect.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under 2 Articles of the CCU:

  • 111-1.6 (collaboration activity);
  • 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants)

The investigation is underway.

The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of Kupiansk District Prosecutor’s Office.
