SSU detains collaborator who called to "join" Kherson to russia during occupation
The SSU detained another collaborator as a result of stabilization activities in the liberated city of Kherson. The offender participated in the organization of an illegal referendum of the russian federation during the temporary occupation of the city.
According to the investigation, the suspect is a local resident who, after the seizure of Kherson, supported the russian invaders and cooperated with them.
The russians offered him to join the occupation "election committee" of the Korabelnyi district to participate in the organization of fake voting.
As a member of the pseudo-institution, the collaborator agitated Kherson residents to "vote for the region's accession" to russia.
In addition, the traitor, accompanied by armed occupants, visited the locals and forced them to put the "necessary" marks in illegal ballots.
After the liberation of Kherson, the collaborator remained on the right bank of the region, where he tried to hide and avoid punishment.
However, SSU officers established his whereabouts and detained him.
Based on the collected evidence, the offender was served a notice of suspicion under Article 28.2, 111-1.5 of the CCU (collaboration, voluntary holding of a position by a citizen of Ukraine in illegal authorities established in the temporarily occupied territory, committed by prior conspiracy by an organized group).
The traitor is currently in custody, facing up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
