SSU detains collaborator who organized broadcasting of russian TV channels during Kupiansk’s occupation

The SSU cyber units have exposed another enemy accomplice in the liberated areas of Kharkiv region.

The offender is a local resident who, after part of the oblast was captured, voluntarily collaborated with russian invaders.

For this, he was appointed ‘acting leading specialist of the broadcasting unit of the communications and mass communications department’ in russia’s occupation administration.

While in this ‘position’, the traitor organized broadcasting of central russian TV channels on the frequencies of Ukrainian terrestrial digital television.

To do this, he used telecommunication equipment of Kupiansk TV tower.

In this way, the enemy spread propaganda and disinformation about the war in Ukraine.

All the broadcast content was aimed at denying russia’s armed aggression and justifying war crimes of russian invaders.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the offender of suspicion of collaboration (Article 111-1.6 of the CCU).

The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is facing 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The SSU Kharkiv Office carried out the operation and investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
