SSU detains collaborator who ‘leaked’ positions of Ukrainian artillery near Bakhmut to FSB’s Telegram bot
As a result of counter-sabotage activities in Donetsk region, the SSU detained another enemy informant.
The traitor collected information for russian occupiers on locations and movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in the counter-offensive on Bakhmut direction.
Primarily, he tried to identify locations of Ukrainian artillery, including combat positions of HIMARS multiple rocket launchers.
The spy sent the information to a Telegram bot created by russia’s FSB to gather intelligence on Ukrainian Defence Forces.
The SSU detained the collaborator when he left his home to conduct covert surveillance of Ukrainian troops.
According to the investigation, the suspect is a resident of Toretsk, Donetsk region, who in late June 2023 began to inform the aggressor on routes of movement of Ukrainian troops.
In his messages, he indicated approximate coordinates of Ukrainian targets with georeferencing.
During the search, the SSU seized a mobile phone which the individual used to transmit intelligence.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).
The suspect is in custody, facing up to 15 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
