SSU detains collaborator from Luhansk region who helped invaders repair russian ‘Smerch’ rocket launchers
The SSU has detained another collaborator who worked for russia during the seizure of Svatove district, Luhansk oblast.
The perpetrator is a former employee of a local farm. During the occupation of the settlement, he offered his assistance to the russian military in the war against Ukraine.
Having technical skills, the man got a job at the local repair workshop of the occupiers.
There, he was involved in the repair of russian military equipment, including Smerch multiple rocket launchers, hit by Ukrainian defenders during the warfare, as well as damaged armoured personnel carriers and trucks transporting russian ammunition.
He also helped the enemy build fortifications – dugouts on the territory of the captured village.
The collaborator hoped to become a member of the leadership of russia’s local occupation administration.
However, he did not get the ‘position’. In the autumn of 2022, Ukrainian defenders liberated the village, and the man fled to Dnipro to hide there as an IDP.
The SSU found and apprehended him in a rented apartment.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 15 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Luhansk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
