SSU detains former militant of Prizrak terrorist group, who hoped to ‘lay low’ in Odesa

The SSU Counterintelligence exposed another member of the ‘lnr’ terrorist organization. The militant took an active part in hostilities against Ukrainian troops in the east of Ukraine.

Then, for a long time he was hiding from justice in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region and later moved to russia.

During a multi-stage special operation, the SSU located and detained the ex-militant in Odesa oblast, where he hoped to ‘lay low’.

According to the investigation, the criminal is a resident of the southern region, who in March 2015 went to rostov-on-don, russia. There, he joined the illegal armed formation Angel.

Among other things, this group covertly supplied weapons and ammunition to the terrorists of the so-called ‘lnr’ under the guise of ‘humanitarian’ cargo from russia.

The militant was engaged in logistics of the Prizrak brigade, which was part of russia’s 2nd occupation corps in the occupied areas of Luhansk region.

In addition, this individual was directly involved in preparation of ‘staged’ stories for the kremlin’s information resources. During propaganda events, he popularized terrorist groups by his own ‘example’ and urged local residents to support the ‘l/dnr’.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion of participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization (Article 258-3.1 of the CCU).

Court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Odesa Region carried out the special operation under coordination of the SSU Counterintelligence Department and procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
