SSU detains former militsiya officer who helped ruscists attack Toretsk

In Donetsk region, the SSU Counterintelligence has detained another of informant of russia’s federal security service. He passed to the occupiers the locations of Ukrainian troops defending Toretsk.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a former employee of a local unit of the disbanded militsiya, who was waiting for the area to be occupied.

To help the russians break through to the city, he walked around the town and covertly recorded locations of the AFU strongholds and fortifications.

He also tried to establish coordinates of command posts and positions of Ukrainian artillery, which fires at the occupiers’ assault groups near Toretsk.

The traitor sent the information to an FSB-run Telegram bot.

He also passed the intelligence to his old acquaintance, an ‘officer of DNR people’s militia’ working for the russian service.

The SSU apprehended the suspect during counter-sabotage operations in the frontline city. A mobile phone used by the him to communicate with the enemy was seized.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer, movement or location of the AFU).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
