SSU detains agents who adjusted enemy strikes on positions of Ukrainian troops on eastern and southern fronts

The SSU has exposed two russian agents in Odesa and Donetsk oblasts. They carried out reconnaissance of sites of deployment and routes of movement of Ukrainian Defence Forces in the frontline areas in the south and east of Ukraine.

A topographic map and a scheme with the coordinates of a temporary location of a Ukrainian unit in Odesa region was seized from a woman, one of the agents.

Occupiers planned to carry out a massive missile strike against the target.

However, the SSU promptly located and detained the traitor when she attempted to pass intelligence to the enemy.

According to the investigation, the agent is a local resident, recruited by russian special services after the start of the full-scale invasion.

The person in question came to the attention of the aggressor state because of her pro-kremlin views, which she repeatedly ‘advertised’ among others.

To gather intelligence, the spy carried out covert surveillance of facilities, determined and mapped their geolocation.

She planned to pass collected intelligence to the invaders using anonymous messenger apps.

Another enemy accomplice was detained in Pokrovsk district, Donetsk oblast. The agent tried to pass classified information on deployment and number of personnel of one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the invaders.

The SSU Counterintelligence established that the woman had been recruited by russian special services in August this year. Her ‘liaison’ was a member of the terrorist organization ‘dnr’, who gave her instructions on conducting reconnaissance and sabotage.

The enemy was primarily interested in data on location of combat positions of Ukrainian troops and defence structures in the area.

A secure electronic communication channel was used for communication.

SSU investigators notified both offenders of suspicion. For one of them, court has already chosen custody as a measure of restraint.

The SSU Offices in Odesa, Donetsk and Luhansk Regions carried out the operations jointly with the 109th Separate Brigade of Territorial Defence and the National Police under the procedural supervision of regional prosecutor’s offices.
