SSU detains enemy agent who took selfies with Kharkiv’s strategic facilities to collect intelligence

The SSU has detained another enemy informant who adjusted russian air attacks on Kharkiv.

In the summer of 2022, the invaders used her coordinates to launch a missile attack on production facilities of a local plant of Ukraine’s energy sector.

To help guide russian missiles at the target, the woman took a georeferenced photo of herself against the backdrop of the facility and sent it to the aggressor.

The perpetrator is an employee of the affected enterprise, whom the FSB had recruited during her trip to moscow before russia’s full-scale invasion.

After 24 February 2022, she was contacted by an FSB serviceman and instructed to pass geolocations of Ukrainian defenders and critical infrastructure in the city.

Popular messenger apps were used for communication; the informant also constantly changed mobile phones for secrecy.

To transmit coordinates of Ukrainian targets, the traitor would take a selfie in front of them, then send the photo to the FSB and immediately delete it from her phone.

To disguise her sabotage activity, she actively posted comments on social media criticizing russia’s military and political leadership.

However, this was no help. The SSU detained the enemy accomplice when she was conducting reconnaissance.

SSU investigators have served her a notice of suspicion.

The suspect is in custody, facing up to 12 years in prison.

The SSU Kharkiv Office carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
