SSU detains russian mole in Volyn Territorial Recruitment Center

The SSU Military Counterintelligence, with the assistance of the AFU Command, apprehended an enemy agent who was preparing russian air strikes on Volyn region.

The perpetrator is a 30-year-old serviceman of the security unit in the local Territorial Recruitment Center. He had been remotely recruited by a serving officer of the GRU (russian military intelligence).

According to the investigation, the mole was trying to identify and pass on to the aggressor the locations of the Armed Forces, the Security Service and the National Police.

To do this, he drove a TRC car under the cover of service trips and recorded locations of military objects.

The agent also tried to identify Ukrainian radar stations and anti-aircraft missile systems to ensure that enemy attacks evade Ukrainian air defenses.

The collected data were sent to the russian handler via an anonymous chat in a messenger app.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence uncovered the traitor, documented his crimes and detained him. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defence Forces.

During the searches, the SSU seized a mobile phone with evidence of the suspect’s work for russia.

According to the investigation, the man came to the attention of the occupiers through his relatives in russia, with whom he kept in touch and shared anti-Ukrainian views.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Volyn Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office.
