SSU detains leaders of criminal group for squeezing money out of residents of Kyiv region (video)

SSU continues systematic fight against organized crime, posing a danger to the state security of Ukraine. In Kyiv region, during a special operation the SSU cracked down on the criminal group controlled by a notorious crime boss.

The perpetrators terrorized residents of Kyiv region and extorted money from entrepreneurs of small and medium businesses. The victims were posed to threats and physical violence.

Allegedly, in order to establish and distribute influence over Kyiv region the perpetrators terrorized citizens by intimidation.

SSU documented three citizens of Pereyaslav city to be involved into criminal group controlled by a previously convicted crime boss.

The citizens were forced to pay non-existent debts, as the businessmen charges. In the event of refuse, the victims were threatened by physical assault.

In Pereyaslav city, SSU detained the perpetrators red handed while extorting a sum of USD 10,000from entrepreneurs specialized on producing and distribution of wood products.

The offenders are served a notice of suspicion of extortion. Custody is chosen as a type of detention.

During the searches, the SSU seized a wholesale of drugs, packaging materials and scale. The seized items are sent for examination.

The investigation actions of creation of a criminal organization and extortion are ongoing to prosecute those involved into criminal activity.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the supervision of BrovaryCity Prosecutor`s Office.
